Volvo F12 Fridge Trailer,
Bon-Accord Transport,
Aberdeen,
Scotland
Bon-Accord Transport of Aberdeen was formed when four drivers decided to set up their own company after they were made redundant from a refrigerated transport operator. Together with another driver, they started with five DAF 2800 4x2 tractors units coupled to tandem-axle refrigerated vans. Their livery was blue, white and red and applied in a distinctive Scottish style with a tartan band around the cab. The registration numbers were consecutive, and each tractor carried a girl’s name.
Operating from depots in Oldmeldrum and Portlethen, their major southbound traffic was the transport of Scottish beef to Smithfield Market in London. Although more DAFs followed, this time in 6x2 format with tri-axle trailers, a number of other makes were to be found in the fleet. At one time, they ran several Volvo F12s with names such as Blacksmith and Broon Troot. This Corgi model is of URS 800X which carried the attractive fleet name ‘The Bonnie Lass O’ Bon-Accord’.
